Athletics Program Introduction

Sports suit our minds and our bodies.  They are an expression of our God-designed humanity.” (Randy Alcorn).

In 1992, CLS began an athletics program for students in middle school.  As our school and program grew, we joined the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC) in 1997.  Fifteen years later, we field about 20 athletic teams and coach over 250 students in middle school and high school.  We field teams in soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, softball, baseball and golf. Athletics has become an important part of Covenant Life School.

God claims every sphere of life for his own glory, including sports.  This means that our involvement in interscholastic athletics should please God.  So, our main goals in the athletics program are to bring God glory (1 Corinthians 10:31) and to seek the good of others (1 Corinthians 10:23-24).  We aim for these goals in three complimentary areas: character, competition, and community.  To learn more about what we believe about sports, you can click here for our philosophy statement and our athletics program handbook.

We encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities to develop their character and their physical abilities for the glory of God in the context of athletic competition.
