Christ & Culture Week

"You are the salt of the earth...you are the light of the world." (Matthew 5:13-14)

While students in grades 6-11 take their midterm exams in the middle of January, the seniors meet for what can be a defining experience in their young lives.  We call this experience Christ & Culture Week, which challenges the seniors to put hands and feet to their years of Christian education at CLS.  The seniors are challenged to use their gifts and callings to penetrate and influence their culture for Christ, to bring the Christian worldview into the public square.

Here is a summary of what takes place:

  • Different Christian speakers give presentations on business, journalism, public policy, the arts, etc. to the seniors
  • Students will spend a day at Patrick Henry College to hear about the vision to engage and impact the culture for Christ
  • Students reflect and consider how they can personally apply the activities of the week to their lives and their futures

“If Christians were serious…They would crowd into journalism schools, film institutes, and graduate programs. Local churches…would lay hands on them and send them into the fray…they would support them with prayer and patronage.”  Gene Edward Veith
